Hi everyone,

I wanted to post what type of items we are currently in need of for the potluck. We have already reached our limit with desserts. Therefore, we kindly request that future sign-ups be for meal-like dishes only. Or, a $10 donation will be just as helpful for this potluck if you prefer.

We are looking for the following items:

* Egg rolls
* Medium-sized pizzas
* Rotisserie chickens (from Kroger, WalMart, etc.)
* Noodle dishes
* Rice dishes
* Beef dishes
* Chicken dishes
* Pork dishes
* Fish dishes
* Lasagna
* Sandwich trays
* Fruit trays (limit to 5 sign-ups)
* Dishes from your own culture (non-dessert)
* Any other non-dessert items

If you have any questions, please speak with me and I will be happy to answer them!

Welcome Party for Second Master Feng

Students,

The welcome party for Second Master Feng is Saturday, March 12th 5pm - 9pm.
Everyone is encouraged to attend to meet and greet your new Master.

As our last potluck dinner was so successful, I have opted to do another where students are once again encouraged to bring a dish from their own culture.  Please see me for the sign-up sheet. I know Second Master Feng would really appreciate that...

Also, any students interested in volunteering to help decorate for the party are more than welcome to - just let me know.

NOTE: ALL AFTERNOON CLASSES WILL BE CANCELED THAT DAY IN PREPARATION FOR THE WELCOME PARTY.

I look forward to seeing you all there!!

Inspirational Quote for the Week

Pain is temporary.  It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place.  If I quit, however, it lasts forever.

Chinese New Year is coming

Hey everyone,

Chinese New Year is this Thursday and I would like to give all my students a gift in celebration of this event.  However....

I would like each of you to say Happy New Year to me, in CHINESE, before I give you your gift.  For those of you that do not speak Chinese, I will give you the translation of "Happy New Year":
Xīn Nián Kuài Lè

Here is a way to help you pronounce it in English:

"Sheen" "Knee-yen" "Qwai" "Luh"

I look forward to you all greeting me a Happy New Year in Chinese!

Inspirational Quote for the Week

If ignorant both of your enemy and yourself, you are certain to be in peril. – Sun Tzu

This saying is not inspirational in the motivational sense, but in that it can inspire you to find a solution to your problems. Knowing yourself is incredibly important in all walks of life – you need to know your limitations so that you can improve yourself and so that you do not bite off more than you can chew, and you need to know your strengths so that you can utilise them. This quote comes from The Art of War, Sun Tsu definitive guide to warfare that today is taken non literally to advise on all topics from love, to sport, to business. Knowing your ‘enemy’ is important in all these fields if you are to succeed. You need to research the market, research the opponent, research the target and this way you will have information on your side. Remember: knowledge is power.
